Jim Lewis, trumpet

Jim LewisA significant presence in both straight ahead jazz and the avant garde, Jim Lewis is a freelance trumpet player, conductor and composer/arranger that has been working in Toronto since 1980, performing and improvising with some of Canada's finest including  Reiner Weins, Kieran Overs, Nancy Walker, David Braid, Francois Bourassa, Alex Dean, Justin Haynes, John Geggie, Andrew Downing, David Occhipinti, Phil Nimmons, Don Thompson, Pat LaBarbera, Mike Murley, and Kevin Turcotte.  In addition to the Mark Segger Sextet, Jim currently performs and records with the Frank Lozano Group (Colour Fields, 2007), his own Trio with drummer Jean Martin and bassist Andrew Downing (2010), the Element Choir (At Rosedale United, 2010) and the Paul Read Orchestra (Arc-en-Ciel, 2010).
